Wednesday Night Sharing CircleWednesday, January 12, 2022 Sharing in circle has a long history of transformation and community strength in both indigenous and addictions recovery traditions. Sharing in circle allows us both opportunity to listen, and when our turn arrives, to speak. A topic is raised each Wednesday in the realms of Faith, Justice, Spirituality, and Action in the Christian tradition that we are invited to reflect on and share if we wish. Rev. Jonathan usually facilitates the circle. Please contact him for the zoom access: rector@staugustinesedmonton.com We have used books, video, or individual presentations as our 'prompts' for the evening. "Doors" open at 7:45pm, process begins at 8pm-9pm. The zoom stays on until 9:30pm latest for those who want to chat more.

GATHERING 'ROUND THE KITCHEN TABLE'Zoom Event ~ Thursdays, January 13 to February 24 ~ 10AM to 11:15AM Come and enjoy a relaxing time of conversation as we reflect together on excerpts from Barbara Brown Taylor ‘s best selling book, “Learning to Walk in the Dark”. With her characteristic charm, theological depth and literary wisdom, Taylor guides us through a spirituality of the nighttime, teaching us how to find our footing in times of uncertainty and giving us strength and hope to face the challenging moments that come our way. So bring your coffee and gather around the (virtual) kitchen table or perhaps just settle into a comfortable chair as we enjoy each other’s company, ponder a bit of scripture, and discuss Taylor’s insights. You do not need to purchase a book - You will be provided with excerpts which will serve as focal points in our conversations. However, if you wish to read it “cover to cover”, audio books and PDF copies are available online. Please email Anne Wightman: wildrosie7@gmail.com for more information and/or to receive the handout for our first “Gathering” of 2022. |

Diocesan COVID Update"Local Option" in effect January 5, 2022 Through the Advent and Christmas seasons, Bishop Stephen has been in contact with clergy about the diocesan response to the “omicron wave” of COVID-19. Though daily case numbers have been very high, there is some encouragement in the fact that the number of people in hospital and ICU has not peaked in the same way as in previous waves. Also encouraging is that parishes have learned very well over the past two years how to keep their church families safe through following COVID-19 protocols and providing online options. For these reasons, the Bishop has asked parishes to be prepared, should it be necessary, to go completely online. However, in the meantime, he has permitted parishes to make choices that are right for their own situations, also known as the “local option.” Bishop Steve will continue to monitor available information and government updates, especially watching case numbers, hospitalizations, and ICU admissions, as we approach the period about two weeks after Christmas and New Year. The Bishop will communicate to the clergy any changes to the diocesan policy if needed. For more infomation visit:
