Simple Supper

Simple Supper

Friday 28th April 2023

Enjoy pizza and caesar salad, fun and friendship this Friday, April 28th, at 6pm

Building on the beautiful tradition set out at St. A's many years ago a younger generation, mentored by the originals, has resurrected the simple supper.

The first supper was well attended, the food was delicious and everyone was glad for the return of a bit of normalacy.

The next supper will take place:

Friday, April 28th at 6pm

Cost: $10 adults, kid's free (payable at the door)

Hopefully, again, many will be able to attend the rebirth of this St A's tradition taking place in the church basement, and perhaps bring a friend!!

Coffee Time

A big thank you to our volunteers who prepare and serve the coffee each Sunday as well as providing the snacks.

A copy of the roster for those serving coffee each week is posted on the bulletin board by the kitchen.

Stories of Resurrection

Stories of Resurrection

A 50 days of Easter preaching series

As we have done for the last couple years in the 50 days of Easter, during Sunday sermon time, we welcome a number of St. A's folks to share simply "How they experience resurrection in their life."  God comes to us disguised as our life.

Save the Date

Please "save the weekend" for our St. A's whole-parish visioning celebration on May 26, 27, 28, 2023. (Friday Evening, Saturday Day, Sunday Day.)

The weekend will center around where we have been, where we are, and where we are going.  Our last event like this was in 2014.  A parallel kid's program will be in place.

*Note - this date has changed since the event was first announced at the AGM.  Some world conflicts came to light that forced the shift.  However, we've landed actually on our patronal event - the feast day of St. Augustine of Canterbury. Perhaps not a coincidence at all.  More details to come.

Rummage Sale?

Rummage Sale?

Hi Friends,

You like rummage right?
There is a small pile of rummage building in the lower hall and a few folks around have asked, "Is St. Augustine's having a rummage sale?"

We just need a date and a few folk to help lead the charge.

Interested?

Small Groups?

Small Groups?

Are you in a small groups at St Augustine's?

You might be already!

  • The altar guild is a small group that meets to visit and prepare the church for worship
  • The wednesday night sharing circle is a small group that learns and explores together
  • The Thursday 'Round the Table event likewise gathers to learn and grow and chat
  • The 8am service is pretty much a small group that shares in Eucharist together and goes to MacDonalds after.

There are probably others that happen quietly and organically around the church - for instance, there is a book club that has met for years but just does its own thing.  There are members from St. A's and beyond.

I also know stories of people get together to listen to podcasts and chat, or men who meet over beverages to just be together.

Small groups happen all over the place often without any help.

But, sometimes it is good to just highlight them and remind how important it is to have small groups that you are connected to for support and strength.

Where in your life do you:

  • Meet with people around a common affinity or connection?
  • Toss ideas (spiritual and beyond) back and forth in safe and fruitful conversation
  • Get down to business with a few folks to make an event happen, create something new in community, or address a community need.

Small groups, as I am thinking of them here, are places where you feel safe, welcome, inspired, connected, challenged, supported and renewed in faith and life.

They don't all have to be bible studies, they might be action groups, service groups, prayer groups, contemplation groups, music groups, cleaning groups, learning groups or whatever you are passionate about.

Have a thought though where your small group needs are fed in your life.

If you feel you are needing some connection, there are two ways you might go:

1) look into joining a pre-existing group in the church

2) OR - Start your own!  It could be anything.  What do you need and want to do? Who else might be interested.  Announce it on Sunday, let Jonathan+ know if you need support or space to meet, but, most of all, just go for it.
