Welcome to All

Welcome to All

St. Augustine's weekly eNewletter

Some days you just have to appreciate the beauty of the little things in life ...

Open our hearts to your power moving around us and between us and within us,until your glory is revealed in our love of both friend and enemy,
in communities transformed by justice and compassion, and in the healing of all that is broken. Amen.

Rewilding Symposium

Rewilding Symposium

Ecological learning for all - Saturday, May 28, 2022

WE ARE NURTURING OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LAND THROUGH RESTORATIVE ECOLOGICAL DESIGN, EDUCATION, AND SACRED COMMUNITY SPACE.

Join community partners and St. Augustine's Anglican Church on May 28, 2022 for a rewilding symposium. Through the lenses of four engaging speakers, we will explore the work of rewilding as we plan an ecological design on our church land.

We are looking forward to hearing from:
1.      Cherry Dodd, president of the Edmonton Native Plant Society
2.      Vern Peters, a forest ecologist from King's University
3.      Jeff Battigelli, A skilled ecologist with more than two decades of experience studying soil ecosystems and developing expertise in soil quality, compaction, fertility, entomology, taxonomy, and soil biodiversity.
4.      Dustin Bajer, a local educator, master gardener, writer, beekeeper, and ecologically inspired designer.

After the talks, we'll move outside for a casual beer garden and entertainment by the Ukelectics!

Come to learn in community and walk the land.

The Cards are Back!

The Cards are Back!

Shared-community worship

Do you know that anyone can help with Sunday worship?  There is no secred society!

If you walk into church early enough you will see several cards on the table right there in the narthex.

These represent jobs that are required for worship.  Each Sunday we need two people to read the scripture lessons; each Sunday we need two people to help serve wine at communion; each Sunday we need at least one person to greet people at the door to help each other feel welcome.

If you choose to take up one of these jobs, simply turn over the card on the table and be ready once your time comes!

 St. Augustine's Book Club

 St. Augustine's Book Club

Is Looking for Readers to join the Book Club

They meet at 10:30 on the last Tuesday of the month in the basement lounge, narthex, or lawn in front of the church (depending on the season, weather). Going out for lunch after is optional.

They choose their books in May for the following year. Members make suggestions, they discuss, chose and the list is created. They decided years ago that all books are spiritual, so their list is wide ranging.

Their discussions center around the ideas explored in the books and how these views relate to our lives. If this interests you please contact Phyllis Molyneux at phyllismolyneux@gmail.com or drop into a book club meeting or both.
