Taizé Prayer at St. Augustine'sTaize prayer is a contemplative, musical, patient, and still act of worship that stems from the Taize monastic community in France. There is a group in Edmonton that gathers monthly in this style of prayer across denominations and traditions. We are blessed to host this beautiful gathering this October. Please make it a priority to come! _______________ 2025-6 schedule September 21, 2025 Prayer for Creation (our thanks to Spirit of Hope United Church for hosting us.) Simple Supper for October .. take note that due to Halloween it is taking place a week earlier than normalA warming meal for an autumn evening. This month's menu: Chicken Stew Biscuits Rhubarb Crisp and Ice Cream * stew and ice cream are gluten free - gluten free Rhubarb sauce will also be available and gluten free * Adults are $10 / children 12 and under free Cash, debit & credit payments are accepted. GATHERING AROUND THE KITCHEN TABLEGood news! “Gathering” has resumed!! You are invited to gather together and enjoy these informal afternoons with friends as we explore and reflect on various aspects of our life of faith--and how this informs the choices we make as we encounter the important issues of today’s world. This fall we will using Bishop Mariann Budde’s book “How We Learn to Be Brave: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith” to focus our time together. I think Bishop Budde’s will lead us into some very interesting conversations. We will also include other topics of interest from time to time. Handouts will be send out early each week to help bring a focus to our conversation. So bring your coffee or tea or “whatever” and gather around our virtual kitchen table. All Souls Day Common Memorial and MealAll Souls Day is a traditional time of remembering those who have recently become our ancestors. We remember those personal to us, in our communities, and in the world. We will pray together and, by lighting a candle or laying a stone (please bring if you like), we will remember those who have died. You may bring a picture of someone you are remembering in particular. Following our time of prayer, all are welcome for a simple soup and bun supper in our lower hall. Apply Now for 2025 Cursillo WeekendApplications are now being accepted for the next Edmonton Anglican Cursillo Weekend, to be held from November 7 to 9, 2025, at the Star of the North Retreat Centre in St. Albert. The weekend runs from early Friday afternoon to late Sunday afternoon. It revolves around a series of talks given by a team of laypeople and clergy. Small group discussions follow the talks. It tells the story of Mikaela Hanley's mother who worked as a residential school teacher in Wabasca-Demerais. Saturday, October 18, 7:00 PM What We Carry was commissioned for CBC’s documentary Channel and delves into the interwoven stories of a grandmother who once taught at a residential school and the community she impacted. |
