St. Augustine's Anglican Church
St A's Newsletter for Sunday August 10th, 2025
Summer Schedule

Summer Schedule

10am service only

Summer is our church Sabbath time.

The 8am services will resume in the autumn the Sunday after the Labor Day long weekend.

Regular kid's ministry takes a break (but see the VBS notifications below!)

As well, all our weekly groups, the Hanley home group, 'Round the kitchen table, and the Sharing circle are on pause as well.

Liturgically, we are in "the Season after Pentecost": it is the time of the Spirit.
Where are you seeing God around you?  If you are adventuring, what new capacities are the challenges opening up in you?  Who are you meeting and how is the Spirit renewing you in relationship?

READINGS THIS WEEK:

The 9th Sunday after Pentecost

Isaiah 1:1, 10-20
Psalm 50:1-8, 22-23
Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16
Luke 12:32-40

St A's is participating, once again, in preparing lunches for the Bissell Centre!

St A's is participating, once again, in preparing lunches for the Bissell Centre!

Our date for delivery is Sunday August 24th 2025 / Our date for preparation is Saturday 23rd August at 10am in the Lower Hall

St A's is once again participating in the lunch programme run by the Inner City Pastoral Mission who provide an interdenominatonal Christian Ministry of Presence who are guided by the Spirit of God and walk in partnership with Edmonton's Inner City Community.

This year we have again been asked to provide 100 lunch bags and deliver them to the Bissell Centre on Sunday August 24th (we are partnered with St Luke's who will also supply 100 lunch bags)!

This year is has been decided that a small group will be picking up the items required with monies that have been donated .. thank you to all who have donated to date.  This way it will be easier to get what it is needed and not have duplications or missing items.  If you do wish to donate an item off the list (follows) please email the office so that these can be crossed off what is required. We also require boxes to put the prepared bags in to for delivery.

Food items can be delivered to the church or church office; monetary donations can be made via e transfer to office@staugustinesedmonton.com, via cheque dropped/posted into the office or the collection plate or via tithe.ly online.  Please do not hand money directly to an individual for donation purposes.

100 bottles of water / 100 juice boxes (pure juice) / 100 cheese strings or individually wrapped pieces of cheese

Wrapped breakfast bars (ie Cliff, Vector, Bear Paw) OR protein bars (not small granola bars) - we need 100 in total not 100 of each

Peanut butter & crackers / cheese & crackers / tuna & crackers / chicken & crackers - we need 100 in total not 100 of each (these packs can be found at any supermarket but best prices are Walmart or Superstore)

100 oranges and 100 bananas.  ** these will need to be bought as close to the date of delivery as possible.

2 large can of ground coffee          2 x 4kg bag of sugar

2 cannisters of powdered creamer (1kg or larger)

We will also require volunteers to make up the lunchbags - if you are able to help on Saturday 23rd August at 10am please let Eileen Fairbrother know or email Cheryl in the office. Volunteers to deliver our completed lunch bags to the Bissell Centre on the 24th between 8.15 and 8.30am are also required.  If anyone is able to help in this capacity please let the office know as soon as possible via email at office@staugustinesedmonton.com. If anyone would like to stay and assist with giving out bags or handing out coffee this is always appreciated.

Perhaps some of the younger members of our church congregation might like to take part!!

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Donor Support Needed for Traditional Approaches to Healing

Donor Support Needed for Traditional Approaches to Healing

Aaron Parker, a local musician, video producer and member of the Edmonton Anglican parishes of St. Augustine’s and St. George’s (where he leads music twice a month), has launched a website and crowdfunding appeal for Traditional Approaches to Healing (TATH), an Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton)-based initiative.

Started eight years ago, by Cree Elder Russell Auger in partnership with E4C, in response to the community's need for emotional and psychological healing, the circle group, now under the umbrella of the Lodgepole Communitas, meets year-round in eight-week cycles at St. Faith’s Anglican Church, 11725 93 ST NW, Edmonton.
