Service changes for Sunday June 1stWe have alternative places of worship in place of the regular St A's 10am Dear friends, due to many of our leaders being on retreat this Sunday and Simone needing to miss kids church, your Stewards and I are electing to cancel the usual 10am service this Sunday in favor of the following: 1) Kids and families are encouraged to join the intergenerational service that is happening 10am at Grace United across the street. We are told there will be popsicles! 2) All folks are encouraged to join either the Grace United service, OR the Church of South India service to be held in the st. A's sanctuary. Rev Hugh Matheson will be leading in English this Sunday. So, this will be an Anglican communion service, but a little different than you might be used to. You will be a guest in your own space! Rather than a 'loss' we might can this "Partnership Sunday" as we continue to lean into and rely on our friends! Jonathan+ |

My dad
On a personal note, my dad died suddenly last night while living life and mowing the lawn. This means I will be a little under the radar for the next bit and will postpone a few things as needed. I had already booked some lieu days in June to catch up from busy seasons and will take what I need. All major events and happenings remain 'on.' I will be ok - my dad was a man of deep faith and readiness for death and missed my mom (d. 2010) terribly. He left my sister and I many gifts of character and example. I invite your prayers for myself, my sister, our families and relatives especially my aunt June - my dad's older sister. |

Workers have been installing a new catch basin to keep refuse out of the LID system.
Heavy work continues on the LID (flood mitigation system) at the church. Due to this, parking remains a challenge this Sunday; you may want to plan ahead just in case. |

You Are Leaven Mini-ConferenceFermenting Cultures of Spiritual Formation - Saturday, June 7, 2025 Ideas for spiritual formation will be bubbling up on June 7, 10 am to 4 pm, at St. Paul's, Edmonton, during a one-day conference offered by the diocesan Discipleship Committee. The You are Leaven conference is shaped by the idea that as members of a church family, we are called to ferment cultures of spiritual formation (a lifelong process of growing in faith, understanding and attentiveness to God), in each other and our parishes. We encourage the participation of at least two to four people from every parish. Come discover new practices and old ones in new ways. Invite the Spirit to work in you and see what bubbles up! Christian Basics WeekendIn life-long learning about the way of God in Christ - Friday June 13 & Saturday June 14th, 2025 Come learn afresh or anew the basics of Christian faith from someone who has spent his ministry learning and writing about how to do this well. If you are curious about Christian faith or would like a refresher, please consider joining this weekend in June 13-14, 2025. We remember that being a mature Christian is not about how much we know - there are no degrees of Christians - but we center ourselves around the basics and seek to live more deeply in Jesus' way of love. Please register below so we can plan food needs for the weekend. Refreshments throughout and Saturday lunch will be provided. --- Retired Anglican priest the Rev. Tim Chesterton is excited to take Christian Basics, a short course about the central Gospel message, on the road. He is offering this opportunity to every parish in the diocese. Unpacking the Diocesan WorkplanWe're just getting started An estimated 180 people, including individuals, parish vestry groups and congregations, attended three online information sessions led by members of the Executive Council last week to delve deeper into A Way Through the Wilderness, our roadmap to adaptive change. Rooted in Six Guiding Principles, the diocesan workplan was shaped with input gathered over several months through parish engagement sessions, online surveys, one-on-one interviews and guided conversations at the 69th Synod in October. An extensive report by Another Way consultant Anna Bubel and more than 40 pages of Synod discussion notes were reviewed and refined by Executive Council members who worked to identify desirable outcomes, actions and resources. The resulting document, launched as the Diocesan Workplan, A Way Through the Wilderness, on May 15, will help guide our journey together as co-workers of God and a family of churches until the next Synod in the fall of 2026. You can read our plan and find resources to help implement the plan in your own parish context at edmonton.anglican.ca/pages/a- Pictured above: Executive Council member Suzanne Oswald speaking at the Diocesan Workplan Launch Party on May 15.

Wednesday night Sharing CircleHonest spiritual seeking and learning together - Wednesday, May 14, 2025 We continue our discussions begun in January 2025 Marcus Borg's "The God we Never Knew" after a break over the Easter period. --- Sharing in circle has a long history of transformation and community strength in both indigenous and addictions recovery traditions. Sharing in circle allows us both opportunity to listen, and when our turn arrives, to speak. A topic is raised each Wednesday in the realms of Faith, Justice, Spirituality, and Action in the Christian tradition that we are invited to reflect on and share if we wish. Rev. Jonathan usually facilitates the circle. Please contact him for the zoom access: rector@staugustinesedmonton.com We have used books, video, or individual presentations as our prompts for the evening. "Doors" open at 7:45pm, process begins at 8pm-9pm. The zoom stays on until 9:30pm latest for those who want to chat more.

GATHERING AROUND THE KITCHEN TABLE IS TAKING A SHORT BREAKThursday afternoons 1.30pm - 2.45pm A Zoom Event Hello everyone!!
Anne and Peter's 'on again, off again' trip to the Sunshine coast is ON AGAIN!!!
We will be leaving right after Easter, back home sometime around the middle of May.
I had intended to have a wrap up 'gathering' on April 24, but that will have to wait till later on in May.
I will schedule it when we get our feet back on home turf, so we all have something to look forward to!
See you all then.
