St. Augustine's Edmonton eNewletter
We join with Anglicans around the world in remembering Queen Elizabeth II in thanksgiving, and we pray for the Royal Family in their grief and the transition of the monarchy in the coming days. The queen, 96, died September 8, 2022, in her Scottish residence, Balmoral. Announcement
O God, from whom comes everything that is upright and true:
Accept our thanks for the gifts of heart and mind thou didst bestow
on thy servant Elizabeth,
And which she showed forth among us in her words and deeds;
Deal graciously we pray thee, with those who mourn,
especially the members of the Royal Family,
that casting every care on thee, they may know the consolation of thy love,
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A national memorial service for Queen Elizabeth II will be held at St. James' Cathedral in Toronto, Ontario, after the official funeral in the United Kingdom and after the national civic commemorative ceremony in Canada. The service will be live-streamed on www.anglican.ca — please watch for a later announcement of the date and time.

Wednesday Night Sharing Circle
Wednesday, September 14, 2022 ~ Theme: Life & Teachings by Marcus Borg
Sharing in circle has a long history of transformation and community strength in both indigenous and addictions recovery traditions.
Sharing in circle allows us both opportunity to listen, and when our turn arrives, to speak.
A topic is raised each Wednesday in the realms of Faith, Justice, Spirituality, and Action in the Christian tradition that we are invited to reflect on and share if we wish.
Rev. Jonathan usually facilitates the circle. Please contact him for the zoom access: firstname.lastname@example.org
We have used books, video, or individual presentations as our 'prompts' for the evening.
"Doors" open at 7:45pm, process begins at 8pm-9pm. The zoom stays on until 9:30pm latest for those who want to chat more.
GATHERING AROUND THE KITCHEN TABLE
September 29 ~ 1:30PM to 2:45 PM ~ Zoom Event
Come and enjoy a relaxing time of conversation as we reflect together on excerpts from Alice Fryling’s wise and readable book "Aging Faithfully". We will also consider passages from other sources which, I trust, will add to the richness our conversation.
With wisdom, humour, and spiritual insight, Fryling relates her and her husband’s ourneys into their retirement years and onward as they now enter the eighth decade of their lives. As she explores the losses they and others have faced, she encourages consciously grieving them. But she doesn’t leave us there. Fryling relates how she learned, with the Holy Spirit’s help, that "buried in our losses are holy invitations," and maintains that many of those losses remind us of the resurrection. She explores themes of productivity and fruitfulness, learning to embrace "the discipline of irresponsibility," and of letting go while holding on more tightly to God and that which is eternal.
So bring your coffee and gather around the (virtual) kitchen table or perhaps just settle into a comfortable chair. If you have any questions or want more information, please feel free to e-mail me at email@example.com or call me at 780-429-3155.
Margaret Jorgensen Memorial

We gather on September 12th at 11am to mark the life of Margaret Jorgensen. While she was not able to join us for many years, Margaret still held St. Augustine's as a strong faith connection for her. She was 92years old this year.
Internment of ashes will follow later that day.
Peace to you Margaret and to your family.

Diocese of Edmonton
I am excited to tell you about a new Diocesan initiative for this coming fall. Under the direction of Laura Hawley, we will be starting a Diocese of Edmonton Children's Choir. The choir is geared for children in grades two and up and it will offer them an opportunity to sing, be introduced to a variety of styles of sacred music, get to know other children in the Diocese and perform in a few churches throughout the year. The choir will meet weekly from 5 to 6pm at The Anglican Parish of Christ Church (12116 102 Ave) and their first gathering will be with a 'Come and See' rehearsal on Wednesday September 14th at 5pm. For more information or to register for this first rehearsal please click this link which will take you to the Diocesan web page.
We are so excited for this opportunity and hope that you will promote it widely within your parish and community connections. There is no cost for this choir and we are committed to providing an accessible space for all who wish to participate. We are a safe space for LGBTQ2S+ individuals and their families.
Yours in faith and hope,
