Ash Wednesday service

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day season of prayer and self-examination that prepares us for the events of Holy Week and Easter. This simple service of Eucharist and imposition of ashes reminds us both of our mortality and that we enter this desert time together as a community, trusting Jesus.

All are welcome to participate.

Almighty God, you have created us out of the dust of the earth: Grant that these ashes may be to us a sign of our mortality and penitence, that we may remember that it is only by your gracious gift that we are given everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
