Rector's Holiday notes
During the Rector's July 2024 holiday please remember ...Sunday 10am services are led by other clergy and folks each week and still online. Please plan to help read and help with communion as needed. ...Mikaela Hanley and Steve McAuley are our Stewards (wardens) who remain as church leadership during this time. They are able to make any needed decisions. ...Cheryl remains in the office on Thursday mornings and will also be producing worship materials. ...If you see Jonathan+ on the street, please still say hello, but avoid bringing up church business! Thank you! |

Lower Hall Bathroom RenovationsFirst phase completed!! Pop in to have a look!! Further to the $5000 we received work has been going on this past week and phase one of the Lower Hall bathroom renovation is now complete. A lot of work has gone into uninstalling and reinstalling toilets and partitions, together with a new urinal partition. New bathroom flooring has been laid and looks fresh and clean. Second phase - painting Thursday 25th and Friday 26th July ** We are also looking at what money is left to install new countertops and fixtures ** The calendar has been consulted and it has been confirmed that these dates will cause the least disruption to the daily life of the church. A big thank you to Rita & Randy for spearheading the project, researching into material and companies to complete the work and prioritising what has to be done.

Annex break in this past week
We have discovered that we have two vulnerabilities in our annex building: the danger of leaving doors open and the lower basement windows. Last Saturday evening, St. Olga's folk noticed that someone had been in the building, but there was no forced entry. We figure the lower fire-exit must have been closed, but not completely locked. We are grateful no one was injured in this occasion. Jodi - we are so grateful to you for your forward and quick thinking that allowed this event to come to a quick conclusion. It also allowed all of St. Olga's stolen goods to be returned. We invite your prayers for Kent who broke into the building - apparently mostly to have a dry place in the rain to cook drugs and find some food. We pray that his custody will provide space for the rehabilitation and healing he needs. Church damages are minimal so we will not be seeking an insurance claim. Corporation is looking into a bar system for those lower windows. A reminder to make sure all doors are shut and locked after use in either building. |
Looking Forward at St A's & in Our Community

St A's is participating, once again, in preparing lunches for the Bissell Centre! Our date is Sunday August 18th 2024 St A's is once again participating in the lunch programme run by the Inner City Pastoral Mission who provide an interdenominatonal Christian Ministry of Presence whoare guided by the Spirit of God and walk in partnership with Edmonton's Inner City Community. This year we have been asked to provide 100 lunch bags and deliver them to the Bissell Centre on Sunday August 18th (we are partnered with St Luke's who will also supply 100 lunch bags) - it is indeed a testament of the plight of the inner city that we are being asked to provide double what was needed last year. We are looking for donations of the following items to fill the lunch bags: 100 bottles of water 100 juice boxes (pure juice) 100 cheese strings or individually wrapped pieces of cheese Wrapped muffins/breakfast bars/protein bars (not small granola bars) - we need 100 in total not 100 of each Peanut butter & crackers / cheese & crackers / tuna & crackers / chicken & crackers - we need 100 in total not 100 of each (these packs can be found at any supermarket but best prices are Walmart or Superstore) 100 bags of regular sized bags (28g) potato chips/Doritos/Cheezies 100 oranges and 100 bananas. ** these will need to be bought as close to the date of delivery as possible. 100 large ziplock bags 1 large can of ground coffee 1 x 4kg bag of sugar If you are able to provide any of the above please let the office know. If you are unable to purchase any items yourself but wish to contribute a monetary donation towards items this would be most welcome. Food items can be delivered to the church or church office; monetary donations can be made via e transfer to office@staugustinesedmonton.com, via cheque dropped/posted into the office or the collection plate or via tithe.ly online. Please do not hand money directly to an individual for donation purposes. ** as St A's has a commercially certified kitchen we could also make up sandwiches to be delivered with the lunch bags ** We will also require volunteers to make up the lunchbags - a date will be set when space is allocated, hopefully Saturday 17th August - and volunteers to deliver to the Bissell Centre on the 18th between 8.15 and 8.30am. If anyone is able to help in this capacity please let the office know as soon as possible via email at office@staugustinesedmonton.com. A sign up sheet will also be made available. Perhaps some of the younger members of our church congregation might like to take part!! Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide. |

Spirituality Sharing Circle Pausing for the Summer
As we change gears for Summer schedule, the Wednesday night sharing circle will pause for the summer. We suggest you might like to take the summer to 1) read some resource or book that is edifying for you in your spiritual life. 2) Choose one day a week, whether at home or on vacation, to jot down in a journal where you have seen God in the last week. Wednesday nights will be back up after Labor Day. For more infomation visit: http://staugustinesedmonton.com/news/spirituality-sharing-circle-pausing-for-the-summer
