Advent is a season of serious spiritual work. I invite you to make church a priority in this time alongside your daily practice of prayer. You might make use of a prayer app like "Pray as you Go" or "Daily Prayer", and we will also be setting out paper copies of an advent daily prayer book in the narthex. As well, please make the following events a priority in your Advent spiritual process:

Advent Healing ServiceSeeking restoration and wholeness - Sunday, December 11, 2022 This Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, we will have a healing service as part of our Sunday liturgy. This is a familiar pattern at St. A's. Following sermon-time, anyone is welcome to come forward for prayer and anointing with oil. We come for ourselves and the healing we seek physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We are also welcome to come forward on behalf of another. You do not need to share anything about why you are seeking prayer, though you are welcome if you wish. After please join us for eggnog and cookies. L'Arche Community Christmas PageantHeld at St. Augustine's this year - Wednesday, December 14, 2022 Do you know about Edmonton's L'Arche Community? There are several L'Arche homes around Edmonton and Sherwood Park, but their Day Program and Offices reside in old Fulton School across the park from the church. This year St. A's is deeply honoured to be hosting their yearly Christmas pageant, December 14th, 7pm in the sanctuary. A little bit about L'Arche. From their website: "Known by many as the Shalom Community, L’Arche Edmonton is a not-for-profit association. Formed in 1972, L’Arche Edmonton became the second L’Arche community in Canada. We have a rich history, and continue to respond to the changing needs of our members. Mutual relationships and trust in God are at the heart of our journey. We currently have six L’Arche houses in Edmonton and Sherwood Park and a Day Program where people with and without disabilities live together. We have a Community Centre located in Fulton place where our Day Program administration team work and our community gatherings take place. We are a diverse and multicultural community, and we celebrate the unique gifts of each individual who chooses to live and work with us." Only a few spots left. Please notifiy Jonathan if you are interested in going. For more infomation visit: http://staugustinesedmonton.com/events/larche-community-christmas-pageant/2022-12-14 |

Coffee-hour Fundraiser Raises $4,600 for Buye Women and Children
An annual fundraiser to help women and children access medical care in our companion Diocese of Buyé raised more than $4,600 in September. Most of the proceeds come from parish coffee-hour collections. The money is then wire transferred by the Rev. John Gee, diocesan treasurer, to Buyé diocese where it will be used to purchase $5 medical cards. With a medical card, a person’s medical expenses are covered by up to 80 per cent. Access to healthcare is otherwise out of reach for most people living in Burundi. Buyé diocese receives 100 per cent of the donations collected by Diocese of Edmonton parishes. There are no administrative fees. The “$5-5 Ways” medical card fundraiser was started in 2018 by the Rev. Rebecca Harris and the Rev. Danielle Key. Pictures received from Fr. Canon Dominique Ciza, Buyé executive secretary, show cards being distributed to people in the parishes of St. Emmanuel, Ruyenzi and St. Stephen, Kobero in October.

Housekeeping Items/Organizing
We would like to share some information with you to hopefully clarify and assist you with contacts and some general information to improve communication. SUNDAY POWER POINT PRESENTATION The statement it “takes a village” is certainly true when it comes to putting together the wonderful power point presentation you see each Sunday. A big thank you to: Cheryl Arbury for adding the reading and organizing it all Megan Crane for doing the music The tech team of Jordon Yeo (team leader), Sherry & John Prokopuk and Noah Crane who do the live stream. There is room for one or two more on this team Val M for updating the responses for the church seasons Jonathan Crane for checking the final copy. FINANCIAL We continue to work to try and improve the office and financial procedures to better assist you. One of the ways we are doing this if by providing a Reimbursement Form to be completed when you require reimbursement for any purchases you have made for the church. The forms are available in the office as well as we will set up an area were they will be available in the Narthex. This form enables us to gather all the information required to issue payment in a timely fashion. Since our financial structure has changed a fair bit over the last couple years, a reminder that though she is in Vernon, Barb Ash remains our treasurer until the AGM and can be reached with any questions or updates at barb.ash@telus.net. To cover accounting details last year, we hired Lesley, a business administrator, who works at a distance to ensure our books are in good order. Rita Yeo supports Lesley and Barb as depositor and with any in-office work required. Rita is your contact for reimbursement and cheque dispersal."
