Mid-Week Word: Sept 30 – Orange Shirt Day and Blessing of Animals

September 30th @ St. A’s:

8 & 10 am Orange Shirt Day at Church

3pm Blessing of Animals

This Sunday September 30th, we will mark “Orange Shirt Day” at St. Augustine’s and continue our walk of reconciliation as a church and people.  In this Season of Creation from Sept 1-Oct4, we consider how we care for the earth in faith – which is also to care for the people we share land with.  Please wear orange to church if possible.  Watch the video above for the story.

The Season of Creation ends on October 4th because that is the feast day of St. Francis.  This Sunday, September 30th at 3pm, bring your furry (or less-than-furry) friend to share in a simple service of thanksgiving for the animals around us.  We reflect on how important animals in our human lives and in the lives of our world.  We remember St. Francis who incorporated a rich sense of God’s presence in creation into his life.  Why not read up on him beforehand: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_of_Assisi
